TrueFellow was created to bring these critical areas together under one strategic partnership.

Frank Slaughter
Chief Executive Officer
For more than 26 years, I have partnered with commercial property owners, investors, and operators to improve asset performance through strategic property tax consulting and comprehensive expense reduction solutions. As CEO of TrueFellow, I have represented clients in all 50 states across virtually every commercial real estate asset class, including hospitality, multifamily, office, industrial, retail, healthcare, and complex and specialty properties.
What began as a national property tax consulting firm has evolved into a broader advisory platform. Today, TrueFellow provides property tax consulting, commercial insurance brokerage, and energy procurement and management services. Our mission is to help clients reduce three of their largest operating expenses, strengthen net operating income, and maximize long-term asset value through coordinated, strategic solutions.
Before entering the property tax profession, I served nearly eight years in the United States Marine Corps. The discipline, leadership, integrity, and mission-focused mindset I developed during my military service continue to shape my approach to business, client service, and leadership.
While measurable results are important, I believe our greatest success is the lasting relationships we build with our clients. Many of the organizations we represent have trusted us for years, and those professional partnerships often grow into genuine friendships. We take the time to understand each client's business, anticipate their needs, and serve as a trusted advisor—not just a service provider. Whether we're addressing property taxes, insurance strategies, or energy management, my commitment is simple: create lasting value, solve complex challenges, and help our clients achieve their long-term business objectives.

Chief Operating Officer & Partner
For more than 15 years, I have helped organizations improve operations, streamline processes, and build the systems that support growth and long-term success. As Chief Operating Officer and Partner at TrueFellow, I oversee the firm's operations, technology, compliance, and client service functions, ensuring our team delivers a high standard of execution and support across every client engagement.
My career has been built around creating structure, improving efficiency, and solving complex operational challenges. Prior to joining TrueFellow, I spent more than 7 years with another National firm, where I advanced into leadership and partnership roles overseeing administration, information systems, compliance, and accounting operations. Those experiences provided a deep understanding of the property tax industry and the importance of accuracy, accountability, and strong client relationships.
At TrueFellow, I help lead the operational foundation behind our property tax consulting, commercial insurance brokerage, and energy management services. I am passionate about developing efficient processes, supporting our team, and ensuring clients receive the responsiveness and attention they deserve.

Senior Client Manager
I have specialized in commercial real estate valuation, property tax strategy, and assessment appeals nationwide. As a licensed Senior Property Tax Consultant at TrueFellow Property Tax, I advise owners and asset managers on complex property tax matters throughout the investment lifecycle—from acquisition and development projections to annual assessment reviews, administrative appeals, and litigation strategy.
My work combines detailed financial analysis with a practical understanding of local assessment practices. I develop and oversee valuation analyses using the income, sales comparison, cost, and equity approaches, translating those findings into clear, actionable recommendations for clients and their stakeholders.
I have experience across a broad range of commercial property types, with particular expertise in hospitality, multifamily, industrial, office, and retail assets. I also coordinate closely with assessors, appraisers, attorneys, local consultants, and property-level teams to develop appeal strategies, evaluate risk, and pursue defensible outcomes.
My approach is straightforward: understand the property, support the position with credible analysis, and give clients the clarity they need to make informed decisions.
Paige Barrera
Principal
As a Principal at TrueFellow, I bring more than 20 years of experience in Texas property taxation, representing REITs, private equity firms, institutional owners, and private investors in commercial property tax strategy, valuation, and appeals, and supporting them through tax litigation.
My experience spans the full spectrum of commercial real estate, including multifamily, hospitality, office, retail, industrial, medical, and agricultural properties, with particular depth in large and complex portfolios.
From pre-acquisition analysis and budget forecasting to valuation strategy, appeals, hearings, and litigation support, I help clients navigate every stage of the property tax lifecycle. I have managed appeals before appraisal districts across Texas, helping owners protect net operating income while bringing greater predictability to annual property tax exposure.
When appeals advance to Chapter 42 judicial proceedings, I remain the client’s lead consultant on valuation. I direct the valuation analysis and shape the strategy that supports the case, working alongside the tax attorneys who handle the legal proceedings. My research, financial analysis, and market support form the foundation for each case, and clients continue to work directly with me from beginning to end.
I believe the best outcomes come from understanding both the property and the client’s investment objectives. I work directly with owners, operators, asset managers, and finance teams, providing senior-level guidance, responsive communication, and a single point of accountability throughout every engagement. My hands-on approach allows clients to make informed decisions with confidence, knowing they have an experienced advisor managing every aspect of the valuation process.
Known for developing defensible valuation strategies and navigating complex, multi-market portfolios, I have earned the trust of clients who value thoughtful analysis, practical solutions, and long-term relationships. Seeing each engagement through from the first conversation to the final resolution is central to how I work and to how TrueFellow serves its clients.
I earned my degree from Sam Houston State University and have dedicated my career to Texas commercial real estate.

As a Senior Property Tax Consultant, I help property owners and businesses navigate the complexities of property taxation and identify opportunities to reduce their tax burden. My experience includes property tax analysis, valuation, assessment reviews, and appeals, with a focus on achieving fair and equitable outcomes for my clients.
Before moving into consulting, I spent many years working for appraisal districts as a commercial appraiser. That experience gives me a unique perspective and a strong understanding of how properties are valued from both the assessor and taxpayer sides of the process.
My approach is detail-oriented and practical, focused on identifying valuation issues, effective appeal strategies, and meaningful results. Just as important, I value building strong, lasting relationships with my clients and being a trusted resource they can rely on.
